Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall makes military vehicles, ammunition, weapon systems, air defence and military electronics. Its most important customer is the German armed forces (Bundeswehr), along with other NATO countries. Its civilian car parts business is being sold to the investor Aequita (contract signed June 2026). Since March 2026 the group also includes the naval shipbuilder NVL.
Rheinmetall supplies tanks, trucks and ammunition to the Bundeswehr. In football, it has sponsored Borussia Dortmund since 2024.
