As of 5 Oct 2026, 17:36What does Siemens Energy do?
Munich-based Siemens Energy builds gas turbines for power plants, grid technology such as transformers and substations, and, through its subsidiary Siemens Gamesa, wind turbines. It was spun off from Siemens in 2020. After serious problems with its wind turbines, the German government had to step in with guarantees in 2023. Since then the business has improved a lot.
Many wind turbines in the North Sea and Baltic Sea come from Siemens Gamesa, and Siemens Energy transformers help get electricity to your home.
