Stock split (Aktiensplit)
Dividing one share into several new shares without changing the value of your holding.
In short
As of 5 October 2026A stock split divides one share into several new shares without changing the value of your holding. The price per share falls in the same proportion. If you hold 5 shares at 400 euros each, a 1:4 split leaves you with 20 shares at 100 euros each, still 2,000 euros. A split is no gift and no signal to buy.
In a stock split a company divides each share into several smaller ones. The price per share falls in the same ratio, and the total value of your position stays the same.
Example: you hold 5 shares at 400 euros each, 2,000 euros in total. After a 1-to-4 split you hold 20 shares at 100 euros each, still 2,000 euros.
Companies usually split when the price is very high, so single shares seem easier to trade. Nothing about the business changes. A split is neither a gift nor a buy signal. Your brokerage account shows the new number of shares automatically.
