TecDAX

The German index of the 30 largest technology companies on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

In short

As of 8 October 2026

The TecDAX is a German stock index of the 30 largest technology companies, for example in software, semiconductors and telecoms. It is not a size tier like the MDAX or SDAX: a stock can be in the TecDAX and the DAX at the same time, such as SAP or Infineon. It is weighted by the market value of freely tradable shares.

The TecDAX groups the 30 largest German technology stocks, for example in software, semiconductors, telecoms and medical technology. Unlike the DAX, MDAX and SDAX, it is not another size tier: a stock can belong to the TecDAX and to one of the other indices at the same time.

As with the DAX, it is weighted by the market value of freely tradable shares. Because a few large names carry a lot of weight, a single stock can move the index noticeably. Tech stocks are often growth stocks and fluctuate more.

Example: SAP, Infineon and Deutsche Telekom are members of both the DAX and the TecDAX.
