The most important types are the market order, executed right away at the next available price, and the limit order, which sets a price limit.
An order is your buy or sell instruction. You specify which security (usually by its ISIN), how many units, on which trading venue and on what terms.
The most important order types are the market order (immediately at the next available price) and the limit order (only at a set price or better). There are also stop orders and others.
Example: you place an order for 10 shares on XETRA with a limit of 52 euros. It is only executed once a seller is willing to sell at 52 euros or less.
