The MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index) is a global stock index of around 2,500 large and mid-sized companies from 23 developed and 24 emerging countries. It is weighted by market value, so the US has the biggest share and emerging markets around 10 percent. One ETF on the ACWI covers almost the whole global stock market.

ACWI stands for All Country World Index. It combines the 23 developed countries of the MSCI World with 24 emerging markets: 47 countries and about 2,500 large and mid-sized companies.

Weighting follows market value, so the US is again the largest part, while emerging markets make up around 10 %. Small companies are not included. An ETF on the MSCI ACWI covers almost the entire investable global stock market in a single product.

Example: instead of running separate savings plans on the MSCI World and emerging markets, some investors use one ACWI ETF in a savings plan. There is no rebalancing between two ETFs, and the country mix adjusts automatically.
