Mid caps are medium-sized listed companies. Roughly, firms with a market capitalization of about 2 to 10 billion US dollars count as mid caps. Every index provider draws the lines a little differently.

In Germany the MDAX is the typical mid-cap index. Mid caps are often established firms that still have room to grow. They usually move more than a large cap but less than a small cap.
